What Are Mini Dental Implants (MDI)?
MDIs are comprised of a titanium post with a ball or socket-shaped head that resembles a ball and socket joint. The head of the implant supports the denture, and the implant is anchored into the jawbone.

What Are the Advantages of Mini Dental Implants?
Offer a Viable Treatment Choice for Patients Who Have Experienced Extensive Bone Loss
Patients with extensive bone loss in their jaw may be unable to receive traditional dental implants. MDIs can offer a new option for those who need dental restoration.
Faster Process Than Normal Dental Implants
Traditional implants that use larger screws can take months to heal and complete before attaching the denture. MDIs offer a quicker and less-invasive process, allowing for a same-day procedure that results in a faster recovery time.
No Rotting Food Beneath the Denture
Traditional dentures can trap food under the denture, leading to unpleasant odors and bacteria growth. MDIs provide the perfect solution by securing the denture in place, preventing food from becoming trapped, and allowing for easier cleaning.
Better Smelling Breath
Traditional dentures can cause bad breath. This is because food and debris can get trapped under the denture and cause unpleasant odors. However, MDIs help to provide a more secure fit, making it easier to clean the denture and prevent the buildup of odorous bacteria.
Easier Chewing and Biting
MDIs provide a more secure fit for your denture. This makes it easier to bite and chew your food, improving your overall diet and nutrition.
Traditional dentures can slip around and cause speech difficulties. However, with MDIs, your denture will be more secure, making it easier to speak clearly.
Firmer Denture Fit
MDIs are stable and provide a firmer fit than traditional dentures. This helps to prevent slippage or movement of the denture.
No Need for Adhesives or Messy Bonding Agents
MDIs are firmly placed, removing the need for messy bonding agents or adhesives.
MDIs are less invasive, meaning less discomfort during and after the placement of the implant, leading to less pain and quicker recovery times.
No Slipping or Discomfort
MDIs provide a secure fit that prevents slipping, wobbling, or discomfort during wear.
Quick Treatment Time
MDIs offer a faster treatment time, enabling patients to receive the benefits of dental restoration with less time and hassle.
MDIs are an affordable option compared to traditional dental implants because the treatment time is reduced, resulting in cost savings for the patient.
Once your MDIs are placed and healed correctly, they can provide permanent results that can last for many years with proper care.
High Success Rate
MDIs have a high success rate, reaching up to 95%, and can last for many years if adequately maintained.
MDIs offer easier cleaning under your denture, making it faster and easier to keep your denture clean.

Well, I'd gone to a couple other dentists and one wanted the moon. Another one said, oh, no, you don't need to do that. We can just put Marilyn bridges in and all this stuff. And it was like, I know my mouth better than you do. A friend of my husband's had his mouth reconstructed here. He was very happy. And my husband said, Try them. Dr Hannah was wonderful. Walked me through it and I said, "let's do it". He's very kind and compassionate. His whole staff is. They're wonderful. I don't cry like this, but when people are that nice. I had a full mouth reconstruction. I had terrible teeth due to terrible dentistry as a child, and then pregnancies. And I had an accident in Mexico and totally messed my grill up, so I had to get it done. And I'm very happy I did. All the front office girls, they're fantastic. All the dental techs have been wonderful. And Dr. Hannah oh, my God. Is just amazing. Terrific care, Beautiful smile now.

Well, I was a classic tooth abuser, a dental hater. I hadn't been to a dentist in 18-20 years. A long time. I didn't like them. So I didn't go and thinking that teeth would be nice. I was used to having no teeth, almost. I chewed them out. Then I said, okay, this is the way to do things is dental implants. I knew that. So I started looking into that. Dr. Hannah's ability to move back and forth. The communication, it was done with respect, and the office is done well. And so that was always a positive thing, the interaction between the various levels of skill and knowledge. I'm satisfied. Yes, it is a process, and the process is working well.

I highly, highly, highly recommend Dr. Hanna. I did my research, you know, and Dr. Hanna had the best reviews. So, I came to meet them. The surgery started at 8:00 AM. They extracted 19 teeth and placed the temporaries - no pain at all. We were about to celebrate our 10th anniversary, my husband and I, and my teeth were in such bad condition. I used to smile, but always covering my mouth. The whole process was explained to us, and we decided to go for it. So, I got teeth - it was amazing. I could finally chew properly. My teeth were discolored. I had only one functional tooth for chewing - it was painful. My gums were receding. I have been coming here for cleanings and maintenance ever since, and everything has been wonderful. Now, I can bite into an apple or enjoy a piece of steak without any issues. I can't stress enough how much I recommend them - if you're considering something like this, I highly, highly recommend him. He's also a pleasant person. He's genuinely nice and always welcoming. The experience is just great. He's personable and a perfectionist in his work. He extends that professionalism to his staff as well. So, I definitely recommend him.

Mini Dental Implants: What to Expect?
Our streamlined dental implant process starts with a thorough consultation and personalized treatment planning by Dr. Hanna. Whether you opt for same-day implant placement or a scheduled procedure, our minimally invasive techniques ensure a comfortable experience. You’ll leave with a temporary tooth while your implant integrates, and in just 12 to 14 weeks, your permanent implant crown will restore your smile’s full brilliance, offering a lasting solution for your missing or compromised tooth.
The first step is to visit Dr. Hanna for a comprehensive oral exam and consultation. During this visit, he will determine if dental implants are the right option for you and create a customized implant placement plan.
Depending on your specific case, you may require additional treatments such as tooth extraction, bone grafting, or alveoloplasty to prepare your jaw and mouth for implant surgery. Dr. Hanna will discuss these treatment options with you in detail if necessary.
During the next appointment, Dr. Hanna will clean and numb your mouth and surgically place the dental implants into your gum and jaw tissue. The area will be sutured shut to promote healing. If you require multiple implants, this process will be repeated accordingly. A temporary implant-supported restoration will be placed to ensure you walk out with a beautiful smile.
Healing, Recovery & Osseointegration
It typically takes around 1-2 weeks for the implant site to heal and feel relatively normal. However, the process of osseointegration, where the implant permanently bonds with your jaw bone and gum tissue, can take up to 6 months. You will need to attend follow-up appointments to ensure proper healing during this time.
Building Implant-Supported Restoration
Your final implant-supported restoration, such as a dental bridge, crown, or implant-supported denture, will be custom-crafted by a dental lab. Dr. Hanna will take impressions and images of your teeth for this purpose.
Placing Your Abutment
A few weeks before your final appointment, an abutment will be placed on your dental implant. The abutment securely connects the implant and implant-supported restoration and must be in place before completing the implant.
Restoring & Completing Your Implant
Once the abutment is attached and your implant has fully healed, you will have a final appointment with Dr. Hanna. He will ensure that your implant-supported restoration fits properly and bond it into place. You will receive instructions on how to care for your implant, and you can leave with a brand-new smile.

Are mini dental implants permanent?
Can mini dental implants be used for molars?
Are mini dental implants as good as regular implants?
While mini implants, like traditional dental implants, are designed to be durable and problem-free for many years, it’s important to note that they may not have the same longevity as their larger counterparts. In summary, both traditional and mini implants provide excellent options for restoring missing teeth and regaining a beautiful smile.
Can mini implants be used for front teeth?
Unlike molars, the front teeth experience less grinding and pressure during chewing. Consequently, dentists are more inclined to consider replacing a front tooth with a mini implant. They can be confident that an implant placed on the front teeth has a high probability of long-term success.
